Sex Addiction Recovery Groups in Charlotte, NC

How Do Sex Addiction Recovery Groups Help?

Attending and participating in sex addiction recovery groups helps sex addicts break free from the destructive cycle of addiction. Hearing from others who struggle with similar issues helps participants realize that they are not alone and gives a sense of accountability and inspiration. Our therapy groups are led by a master’s level licensed counselor who is also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. The processes and structured exercises can be put into practice immediately to help participants regain control of their lives. Click here for more information.

Our Group Offerings

In our initial Sex Addiction Recovery Group, we use the workbook “Facing the Shadow” (3rd Ed.) by Dr. Patrick Carnes to provide a solid recovery plan to stop all sexual “acting out,” secret-keeping, and destructive behavior. This group, and all subsequent groups detailed below, are conducted in a small group setting and offer a safe and confidential environment for open sharing.

After completing the initial Sex Addiction Recovery Group, participants will have the opportunity to attend the follow up group, Sex Addiction Recovery Group, Part 2 in which we will dive deeper into the “Facing the Shadow” workbook and continue to establish healthy habits. Attending this group is a fantastic way to stay on track and continue practicing the important skills you learned in the first group.

Men who have attended at least one of the above Sex Addiction Recovery Groups may then join our Help Her Heal: Men’s Empathy and Communication Group. This group helps men learn the skills that will help heal their relationship after a betrayal has occurred. This is a very important group no matter what type of betrayal has occurred, but it is specialized for those who have had physical and/or emotional affairs and/or sex/porn addiction.

Lastly, our Men’s Assertiveness and Healthy Attachment Group is a great group to help with understanding why you may have challenges with being assertive, boundaries (“saying no”), and asserting your needs in a healthy and effective way. This is a great group to join whether you have problematic sexual addictive behavior or not and does not require any previous group attendance.
